AhlulBayt News Agency - The Syrian Arab Army’s 137th Artillery Brigade of the 17th Reserve Division – backed by the National Defense Forces (NDF) and Hashd Al-Sha’abi – launched a counter-attack against the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) militants in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor on Friday, targeting the terrorist group’s positions near the Thardeh Mountains and Panorama Checkpoint.
This counter-assault would prove successful, as the Syrian Armed Forces and Hashd Al-Sha’abi were able liberate several points between the Panorama Roundabout and Thardeh Mountains.
As a result of this government counter-attack on Friday, the so-called Islamic State terrorists were forced to retreat further north towards the oil rich town of Al-Shoulah, where they found themselves under heavy bombardment by the Syrian Arab Air Force (SAAF).
With Friday’s success, the Syrian Armed Forces are now in full control of the region between the Thardeh Mountains and Panorama Checkpoint.
